dr. shayne scott

Dr Shayne Scott brings warmth, experience, and a calm, reassuring presence to every appointment. After completing her Bachelor of Dental Science, she made the Albury-Wodonga region home in 2015. She initially worked alongside Dr. Rod Paton and proudly took over the practice upon his retirement the same year.

Shayne is passionate about the connection between oral health and overall wellbeing. She has a particular interest in sleep hygiene and the treatment of sleep apnoea, and she approaches dentistry with a whole-person perspective. Known for her relaxed and gentle manner, she’s especially focused on helping patients feel comfortable, understood, and free from dental anxiety. Her extensive experience in dental rehabilitation means patients are always in skilled and steady hands.

Outside the clinic, Shayne enjoys tending to her garden, getting creative with crafts, and relaxing with her two beloved greyhounds.

Associate dentist
dr. Megan Walker

Dr Megan Walker brings a vibrant, educational approach to patient care at Dental on Lawrence. Originally from Geelong, Megan moved to the North East region in 2017 and completed her Bachelor of Dental Science (with Distinction) at Charles Sturt University in Orange, NSW.

Megan is passionate about empowering her patients with knowledge. Her philosophy is simple but powerful: prevention is key. She places a strong focus on patient education, helping individuals understand their oral health and make informed decisions that support long-term wellbeing. Megan is particularly skilled in working with children and anxious patients, using a fun and relaxed approach to help make dental visits a positive experience from the start.

Outside the clinic, Megan enjoys spending time immersed in our beautiful region hiking, skiing and paddling

dr. Melanie Warnock

Dr Melanie Warnock brings both clinical expertise and a warm, friendly energy to the team at Dental on Lawrence. Originally from the local community of Walwa, she completed both her Bachelor and Master of Dentistry at La Trobe University, graduating in 2015. She joined the Albury-Wodonga community in 2018 and has been proudly caring for patients here ever since.

Melanie has a strong interest in restorative dentistry and takes great pride in ensuring her patients feel fully informed and supported throughout their treatment. Her calm, patient approach and clear communication help ease dental anxiety and create a sense of trust and comfort in the chair. Whether it’s a simple filling or a more complex procedure, Melanie is known for guiding patients through every step with a friendly smile and a reassuring presence.

When she’s not in the clinic, Melanie enjoys spending time with her loved ones and pets, and planning her next travel adventure.

With nearly 20 years of experience in dental assisting—and over a decade as a valued team member at Dental on Lawrence—Leah brings a wealth of knowledge and a wonderfully positive energy to our practice. Known for her bright, bubbly nature, Leah creates a welcoming and reassuring environment for patients of all ages.

Her gentle, nurturing approach is especially appreciated by families. As a parent herself, Leah understands the importance of early dental care and brings genuine empathy and compassion to her work with children and their parents. She takes pride in helping make every dental visit a positive, stress-free experience.

Outside of the clinic, Leah enjoys spending quality time with her daughter and family, soaking up the outdoors, traveling, and expressing her creativity through art and craft projects.

Hannah joined Dental on Lawrence in 2021 as a trainee dental assistant and has quickly become an integral part of the team. With a strong work ethic and a keen eye for detail, she has developed her skills with dedication and care, earning the respect of both her colleagues and patients alike.

Known for her calm and quiet presence, Hannah brings a sense of ease to the clinic environment. She is highly organised and thorough in everything she does, from assisting during procedures to managing the clinic’s stock and equipment. Her gentle and friendly manner helps patients feel at ease, while her reliability makes her a valued team member behind the scenes.

Outside of the clinic, Hannah enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She’s also recently caught the travel bug and takes great joy in planning her next getaway.

dental assistant - SOPHIE

Sophie is the newest member of the Dental on Lawrence team, joining in 2024 as a trainee after moving back to Wodonga from Melbourne. From day one, she fit in seamlessly—so much so that it feels like she’s always been part of the team.

A quick learner with a natural talent for dental assisting, Sophie embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and grace. She has confidently taken on all aspects of her role and consistently goes above and beyond expectations. Sophie is known for her kindness, gentle nature, and willingness to help wherever she can—whether it's supporting her teammates or taking the time to talk patients through more challenging treatments. Her calm, caring approach helps ease nerves and build trust with those who may feel anxious about dental care.

Outside the clinic, Sophie enjoys spending time with her friends and loved ones, making regular trips back to Melbourne, and travelling to beautiful destinations with her family.

dental assistant - JESSICA

Jess brings over a decade of dental assisting experience—and an unbeatable sense of humour—to the team at Dental on Lawrence. After working in Brisbane for several years, she returned to the clinic in late 2023 and has been brightening the place ever since. She’s deeply caring and works closely with our dentists to ensure patients feel safe, supported, and well looked after—especially those who walk in feeling a little nervous. With her calm, nurturing presence and years of hands-on experience, Jess helps deliver excellent patient outcomes while keeping the atmosphere light and positive.

But it’s not all suction tips and sterilisation trays—Jess is also known for her goofy sense of humour, infectious laugh, and ability to make both staff and patients feel instantly at ease. She's a proud cat lover (in her words, “cats over people, always”), a self-proclaimed 25-year-old (we play along), and someone who genuinely enjoys making others smile. She's also a fan of candlelit spaghetti dinners (yes, just like Lady and the Tramp) and long, moonlit walks on the beach and—on occasion—removing other people’s teeth (but only if they ask nicely).

Outside of the clinic, you'll find jess getting stuck into creative crafting projects, working on her fitness, or spending quality time with the people (& pets) she holds dearest.

PRACTIcE MANAGER - TIARNA

Tiarna joined Dental on Lawrence in late 2020, beginning her journey as a trainee dental assistant. Since then, she’s grown with the practice—moving through roles in reception and eventually into her current position as practice manager. Her hands-on experience across all areas of the clinic makes her a truly versatile and invaluable part of the team.

Whether she’s assisting chairside, managing the front desk, or keeping the day-to-day operations running smoothly behind the scenes, Tiarna brings a calm, capable presence to everything she does. She has a genuine passion for patient care and is always happy to share her knowledge to help patients better understand their oral health. Her attention to detail and commitment to quality ensure that everyone who walks through our doors receives exceptional care from start to finish.

Outside the clinic, Tiarna enjoys spending time with her husband, kids, and extended family, tackling home projects, and getting creative in the kitchen

RECEPTIONIST - LUCY

Lucy joined Dental on Lawrence in late 2023 and has quickly become the friendly face (and voice!) that greets most of our patients. Whether she’s welcoming you at the front desk or chatting with you over the phone, her bubbly personality and relaxed, positive attitude help set the tone for a calm and friendly visit.

As the first point of contact for many, Lucy keeps the reception area running smoothly and takes pride in providing top-notch service. She genuinely enjoys getting to know our patients, sharing a laugh, and making everyone feel right at home. Her helpful, kind nature makes her a favourite among both patients and team members

Outside of work, Lucy can usually be found spending time with her beloved cat Miso, catching up with friends and family over a good meal, or getting her steps in while enjoying the outdoors

Our History - Where it all began

A legacy of dental excellence in Wodonga & Albury districts - Rod Paton / RP Dental

Dr Michael Priestly converted the former Pollard family home into a dental surgery in the early 1970s. He was joined by Dr Brian Hannath in 1977. Dr Rod Paton later joined them before purchasing the successful practice from Dr Priestly in 1983. Practising as Rod Paton Dental and then RP Dental, Dr Paton cared for the dental health of the people of Wodonga, Albury and surrounding districts for more than 40 years.

In 2015, he sold the practice to Dr Shayne Scott before retiring the following year. Dr Paton endorsed a ‘consummate’ dental professional. In a farewell message to his patients, Dr Paton described his successor as “a consummate professional”.

He wrote: " The duty of providing you, your family and friends with the finest patient-focused dental care will be placed into the capable hands of Dr Shayne Scott. Shayne is a consummate professional, in whom I have total confidence. I know you will be pleased with her and will extend her the same courtesy and loyalty that you have afforded me over these many years. I have worked closely with Shayne and her excellent team to ensure a smooth transition. I am truly grateful for the trust and friendship that you have shared with me and will miss you all "

In establishing Dental on Lawrence at 181 Lawrence Street in Wodonga, Dr Shayne Scott has continued a long tradition of dental excellence spanning almost half a century.

Dr Shayne Scott adds a new chapter to a long legacy

Warmly welcomed by Dr Paton’s patients, Dr Scott has continued to grow the practice and enhance its local reputation for quality dental services. “At Dental on Lawrence, we feel the responsibility that comes with following in the footsteps of three such respected dentists very keenly,” Dr Scott said.

“The best way we can enhance that legacy is by ensuring that our professional skills and equipment always meet the very highest standards. We want our patients to have access to the most up-to-date dental technology and services available anywhere in Australia. My team and I are just as passionate about educating our patients in oral health, too. We believe that by helping them make informed choices about their dental care, they can maintain excellent dental health through every stage of life.”
